How the TI-84 Calculator Online Works
This tool provides a free scientific calculator with a keypad similar to a TI-84, plus a graphing mode. Use the Calculate tab for everyday arithmetic and trig, log, and exponent operations, or switch to the Graph tab to plot any function of x over a custom window, just like using a graphing calculator's Y= and GRAPH screens.
Formula
Expressions are evaluated using standard order of operations (parentheses, exponents, multiplication/division, addition/subtraction). Graphing samples the entered function at evenly spaced x-values across the chosen window and connects the resulting points.
Example
Typing sin(x) + x^2 / 10 into the Graph tab with a window of -10 to 10 plots a wave that curves upward at the edges, combining a sine wave with a gentle upward parabola.
Limitations
This is an independent, free scientific calculator and grapher inspired by common graphing-calculator workflows. It is not an emulator of TI-84 firmware and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Texas Instruments. Some advanced statistical and matrix functions available on a physical TI-84 are not included.
How to use the result responsibly
- Check that every input uses the unit and time period shown beside the field.
- Compare the result with the worked example and formula above.
- For financial, tax, health, or legal decisions, confirm current rules with a qualified professional or the relevant authority.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an official TI-84 calculator?
No. This is a free, independent online scientific calculator and grapher inspired by the familiar TI-84 workflow. It is not made or endorsed by Texas Instruments.
Can I switch between degrees and radians?
Yes. Use the Degrees/Radians toggle above the keypad before using trig functions like sin, cos, and tan.
Why does my graph look empty or cut off?
Check the Xmin/Xmax/Ymin/Ymax window settings. If the interesting part of your function falls outside that range, widen the window to see it.
